Giving Made Easy
Give
It's as easy as a click of your mouse: Pledge your support to Detroit Public Radio.
There are many ways you can help or assist WDET. Membership support of WDET, unrestricted financial grant support, stock gifts, special grants for specific projects, planned gifts, matching gifts and volunteer support are all valuable ways you can contribute to the future growth of the station.
Direct cash gifts to WDET are always welcome. Your gift can greatly assist WDET with the purchase of studio equipment used in broadcasting our programs, purchase of necessary equipment and materials in our Development Department, contribute to the establishment of educational internship funded positions within the station or help in building our endowment fund. More specific information is available by calling Angela Bingham, WDET Director of Development, at 313-577-4031 or emailing at abingham@wayne.edu.
Tax Information
You can help to reduce the amount of personal taxes you pay on an annual basis when you make your gift to WDET.
To encourage giving, the State of Michigan allows a credit for gifts made to public broadcasters. Most Michigan income tax payers will qualify for a credit of 50% of their gift up to certain limits. And that's in addition to any federal tax deductions that you may qualify for.
The Michigan Income Tax Credit is subject to certain limitations. Basically, the credit can be up to half your contribution, to a maximum of $200 for single filers and $400 for joint filers. See your tax advisor for details on how the credit and charitable tax deduction apply to you.
CAR TALK Vehicle Donation Program and WDET
Is your old heap ready to go? It's been good to you, so why not let it do one more good thing and benefit WDET? All you have to do is click "Donate Now" to get started! Your donated car could bring you important tax benefits and help Detroit Public Radio!
Matching Gifts
More than 1,000 corporations will match gifts to WDET. If your company does not offer a matching gifts program for higher education, become an advocate for a matching gifts program. Your gift along with a matching amount from your employer works twice as hard for WDET. Contact your human resources office for more information and to obtain the matching gift forms. If you would like to discuss the matching gift concept in more detail to establish a program in your company, call Tim Burke at 313-577-4226 or email tburke@wdetfm.org.

Endowments
Endowment gifts are long-term investments aimed at securing the success of an organization for years to come. WDET recently established endowments to build a financial reserve to assist in the future growth of the station. These gifts are retained and invested to produce sufficient income to support important WDET initiatives such as educational programs, student internships, general operating support and implementation of our strategic plans.
The original gift made to an endowment fund is known as the principal, and the principal of an endowment cannot be spent. This allows the gift to make an impact in perpetuity as it continues to generate income for the station. If you are interested in making a financial gift to our WDET Endowments, please call at Angela Bingham, WDET Director of Development, at 313-577-4031 or e-mail at abingham@wayne.edu.
Planned Giving
A planned gift is an irrevocable or revocable gift. It is a creative way to give, using many different types of assets. A planned gift can include a charitable remainder trust, a bequest (through your will), pledge of cash, charitable gift annuity or gift of real estate. More information can be obtained by calling Angela Bingham, WDET Director of Development, at 313-577-4031 or emailing abingham@wayne.edu.
Special Grants for Specific Projects
WDET has many special needs for special grants ranging from specialized equipment for broadcasting to software programs for our Public Relations and Development Departments. More information can be obtained by calling Angela Bingham, WDET Director of Development, at 313-577-4031 or emailing to abingham@wayne.edu.
