WDET Cares: Packing Over 8,600 Pounds of Apples For Those In Need At Gleaners

November 27, 2013

"Having a good sense of what matters in the community - that's why our listeners are awesome," - WDET's Craig Fahle

WDET staff and listeners spent Monday afternoon sorting and packing over 8,600 POUNDS of apples at Gleaners Community Food Bank in Detroit. Gleaners fights hunger throughout southeastern Michigan by providing millions of pounds of donated and purchased food to people in need. Thank you to everyone who donated their time to give back to our community!

WDET Cares is one of the many ways we're giving back to our community. Stay tuned for opportunities to volunteer with WDET staff throughout the year at wdet.org/events.

Shiny apples ready for bagging. There were very few bad apples in the mix!

Almost finished with this crate!
