We are pleased to announce some exciting changes coming to WDET in the new year.

Effective January 2nd, Jerome Vaughn will transition into the roll of full time host of WDET's All Things Considered, while maintaining his role as News Director. Jerome brings a mountain of knowledge, ability and experience to this position. His belief in our mission and his extreme sense of ethics and responsibility will be a tremendous asset in the coming years, as our city confronts some major changes.

Born and raised in Detroit, Jerome considers dispelling myths about his hometown a crucial part of his job. Jerome joined WDET in 1992 while pursuing his graduate degree from Wayne State University. He has received numerous honors including the Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity award and was selected for NPR's Diversity Initiative. He currently serves on the board
of the National Association of Black Journalists - Detroit Chapter and the Detroit Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Travis Wright, meanwhile, will take on a new role as a full time correspondent in WDET's newsroom. He will cover arts and culture, and his experience in the anchor's chair makes him invaluable when it comes to covering hard news stories as well. This move provides WDET with another full time reporter, someone with fantastic writing ability and a good nose for interesting stories and people.

An award-winning broadcaster, writer and photographer, Travis came to
WDET in 2011. Born in northern Ontario, he studied English at Wayne State University and previously served as Managing Editor of Real Detroit Weekly
and Arts and Culture Editor at Metro Times.

We also look forward to expanding our digital team in January, providing you with more local content - and new ways for you to engage with us on the web and through the WDET mobile app. In the meantime, reach out to Travis and Jerome on Twitter (@WDETravis, @jvdet) and share the types of stories you'd like to hear in the new year.
