Labor Day is here, and summer's winding down. Kids are returning to school, football season is getting underway. Meanwhile, as the days get shorter and the nights cool down, the political season is heating up. Metro Detroiters will be going to the polls to make critical decisions on both the local and national level. WDET's goal is to help you become a better informed voter. Our in-depth reporting and interactive discussions are designed to provide you with a prismatic view of the political process. We've made some adjustments to our broadcast schedule that expands our capacity to present more local coverage. I hope you will give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Morning Edition
Beginning this morning, we're providing you with an extra hour of Morning Edition, each weekday from 8-9 a.m. You'll have the opportunity to hear more coverage of issues important to southeast Michigan, combined with in-depth reporting and analysis from NPR.
The Takeaway
The Takeaway has re-launched as a one-hour hour program and is no longer available at 8 a.m. We'll continue to present the show, which includes WDET listeners as part of a national conversation, each weekday at 9 a.m and 12 noon. The additional midday broadcast will follow developing stories and provide refreshed content as warranted.
All Things Considered
We know Detroiters work hard. If you're working late, you'll now have a chance to hear more All Things Considered (and our expanded local coverage) on your drive home, weekday evenings from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Soundcheck
After taking a summer hiatus to retool the show and enhance its digital presence, Soundcheck is returning at a new time. You'll hear Soundcheck at the same time New Yorkers hear it – 9p.m. – followed by a re-broadcast of Tell Me More. The show will continue to provide intimate conversations with
and live performances by leading artists from around New York and around
the globe.
Because of our coverage of the Democratic National Convention, Soundcheck will will return on Monday, September 10th.
