Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer. The Movement Electronic Music Festival sets the summer off right, as thousands of music lovers descend on Hart Plaza to experience the world's greatest DJs and their killer mixes. Summer's also a great time for WDET to "turn up the volume" with some exciting new music and cultural programming, both on-air and online. It all begins Monday, May 20. I hope you will give a listen and let me know what you think.

View the new schedule here.

Echoes - Host John Diliberto brings together a wide array of styles, from acoustic to electronic, jazz to space music, the avant-garde to rock. Echoes is a sound that is cross-cultural and trans-millennial, merging cultures and forms, technology and tradition, the ancient past and the possible future. Airs Monday through Thursday at 10 p.m.

Song Travels with Michael Feinstein - Host Michael Feinstein welcomes a new guest each week to explore the genre of American Popular Song, examining how these great songs have evolved through the years, changing with each interpretation and artist. Each guest gives intimate performances and shares personal insights on his or her interpretation of the Great American Songbook. Airs Sundays at 2 p.m.

The Moth Radio Hour - Our weekly series continues at a new time, featuring true stories told live on stage without scripts, notes, props, or accompaniment. Each Moth Radio Hour mixes humorous, heartbreaking, and poignant tales that captivate, surprise, and delight audiences with their honesty, bravery and humor. Airs Sundays at 3 p.m.

ALPHA - 24/7 Electronic Music + Progressive Soul from Detroit. Airs each night from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. and until 6 a.m. on Sundays
