WDET's digital department is growing! We're excited to introduce you to three new people that have joined our team this year: Terry Parris Jr, Sandra Svoboda, and Courtney Hurtt. Get to know them below and connect via Twitter. We're looking forward to some exciting new digital launches this year including a redesign of wdet.org, updates to our mobile app, and dynamic multimedia series that showcase arts, culture, and community in Metro Detroit.

Terry Parris Jr., a Wayne State grad, comes to us from Harrisburg, PA where he ran digital engagement efforts for PennLive and The Patriot-News. Terry was formerly the news editor for Model D, founding editor of Ferndale Patch, and a community manager for UStream. He joins WDET as our Digital Specialist; developing the station's online content and engagement strategies.

Sandra Svoboda has worked for The Blade, Metro Times, and Deadline Detroit and has served as an adjunct faculty member at Wayne State, where she received her masters in public administration. She brings her writing and reporting chops to WDET as the blogger and coordinator of our Next Chapter Detroit project; covering the city's bankruptcy, restructuring and recovery as part of the Detroit Journalism Cooperative.

Courtney Hurtt, the former marketing director at Detroit Bikes, brings her passion for digital storytelling and design to WDET. She joins us as an Associate Digital Specialist, developing digital content and designing new digital platforms like the recently launched Next Chapter Detroit blog.
