Metal Even Your Grandma Would Love!

I grew up back when metal was metal!

I’m talking Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne – that kind of stuff. The kind of stuff that makes parents scream "turn it down".

But lately, I’ve found something that might make your parents, and even your grandparents, ask you to "crank it up".

It’s the sonic reinterpretations of Los Angeles based musician Andy Rehfeldt.

Basically what Rehfeldt does is take a metal song, lifts the vocals out and then reinterprets the music. So, “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne is now a smooth jazz song. “The Trooper” by Iron Maiden is now a bossa nova. “Detroit Rock City” by KISS is now a reggae tune.

But the fun doesn’t end there.

Rehfeldt also takes Top 40 pop songs and gives them a metal edge. For example, check out Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” – truly a new sound for a song you have probably heard hundreds of times.

Check out the videos. There’s even more on Rehfeldt’s You Tube channel.
