New Soul Sunday

New Soul Sunday: 2-9-2014

From his birth on February 7, 1974 until his untimely passing on February 10, 2006, James "J Dilla" Yancy touched the lives of many--most notably through his uncanny ear for music and ability to create magical music with it. We'll take an opportunity to celebrate this musical legacy on New Soul Sunday by opening the show with music from or directly impacted by Dilla including tracks from Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Bilal, & The Brand New Heavies. We'll also listen to my interview with Dilla's mother, Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancy, to get some insight into his life while giving away tix to see the Dance Theater of Harlem.
