Einstein lives as an almost mythic figure. He taps our imagination like almost no one else. Philip Glass and Robert Wilson's opera, Einstein on the Beach, caught the world by surprise when it debuted in 1976. Last staged 20 years ago, the University Musical Society welcomes this landmark piece of art to our region. This staging includes the first North American presentations ever held outside New York City.

WDET thinks the University Musical Society is one of our true regional gems and we're partnering with them to give you a behind-the-scenes view of the production. Throughout the month of January, we'll bring you interviews and ideas from the people making the work and from across the world that will surprise and delight you. We hope you'll take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to experience the work right in your own backyard.

Einstein on the Beach performance dates:
Friday, January 20, 7 p.m. | Saturday, January 21, 7 p.m. | Sunday, January 22, 2 p.m.
