Flooding May Be More Common in The Future

August 13, 2014

Hamtramck, August 2014

Nick Schroeck; Director of Great Lakes Environmental Law Center, and Jim Nash; Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner join Laura Weber Davis and Saeed Khan on Detroit Today. The discussion examines drainage infrastructure and climate change as they relate to the aftermath of Monday's deluge, and the resulting floods that closed Interstates and flooded basements throughout the region. The sewar pipes in most areas are not able to drain water quickly enough to avoid flooding during heavy rain storms. The cost to remedy that infrastructure issue would be prohibitive.
