How Is Belle Isle Changing Under State Control?

Monday, Aug. 18, 2014

It's been six months since the Michigan Department of Natural Resources took over Belle Isle. How has it changed? Or stayed the same? Laura Weber Davis spoke with Detroit Free Press reporter John Gallagher and President of the Belle Isle Conservancy Michelle Hodges about the park, and we talk with our listeners about their opinions and recent experiences at Belle Isle.

The Belle Isle Park Advisory Committee meets tomorrow morning at the Belle Isle Flynn Pavilion. The meeting will run from 9-11:30 a.m. Topics will include law enforcement, upcoming events, the state's first six months of managing the park and comments from the public. The Park Committee advises the state on implementing improvements, planning and public safety for Belle Isle.
