Detroit-born Wendell Harrison is considered to be a legend amongst jazz musicians. Wendell's musical career began when he learned how to play the clarinet at the age of seven. Inspired by fellow classmates at Detroit's Northwestern High School to study jazz, he switched to the tenor saxophone. His musical education continued at the Detroit Conservatory of Music (now the College for Creative Studies). Harrison later moved to New York and co-founded the seminal Tribe Records and collective.
