Cities with more that 15,000 residence might soon be paying for a special assessments for police and fire protection. The legislation won approval Wednesday in the State Senate. The legislation was approved 37-0 could affect nearly 280 cities in Michigan. The bill is sponsored by Democratic Sen. Steve Bieda of Warren. The Director of State Affairs for Michigan Municipal League, Samantha Hakins, talked to Craig about why this new tax is so important to cities in Michigan.
