On today's show, Craig speaks with Detroit Free Press Writer Nancy Kaffer about the current state of politics in Detroit. Craig speaks with Michigan Public Radio Network Capital Bureau Chief Rick Pluta about the Justice Hathaway situation and how it could affect Michigan. They also discuss what the State Legislature plans to do during the lame duck session. Deloitte LLP recently released a holiday spending survey which found that 46 percent of Michigan consumers expect the economy to improve in 2013, which is the most positive outlook since 2010. They also found that smartphones may help drive holiday spending this year, with 64 percent of Michigan smartphone users saying they plan to use their devices for holiday shopping. Craig speaks with Mark Davidoff, Michigan Managing Partner for Deloitte LLP, about the survey and what it says about the economy and Michigan consumers. Craig also asks listeners what their holiday spending plans are. Craig speaks with Professor of History at Wayne State University Marc Kruman and Professor of History at the University of Detroit Mercy Gregory Sumner about the history of Thanksgiving and President Abraham Lincoln's role in making it the official national holiday we know today.
