The Craig Fahle Show

Podcast for Thursday, June 21, 2012

On today's show, Craig invites listeners to call in and join a discussion about losing faith in our institutions. According to a recent Gallup poll, Americans' confidence in public schools is down five percentage points from last year. That establishes a new low in public school confidence from the 33 percent measured in a 2007 Gallup poll and 2008 Confidence in Institutions polls. After that, Craig takes a look at a local effort by the Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision. SDEV is sponsoring Tire Sweep 2012, an cleanup initiative that will target five zip codes in Southwest Detroit. Next, William Elias, owner and broker at Elias Realty, joins Craig to discuss real estate in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor.

Taking a look at the City Charter, Craig invites listeners to call in to give their thoughts about the old charter and what the new charter will aim to do. Bankole Thomspon, Editor of the Michigan Chronicle, joins Craig from Atlanta for their weekly segment to discuss the presidential elections, campaign efforts and Obama's recent 'Fast and Furious' scandal. W.K. Kellogg Foundation CEO Sterling Speirn speaks with Craig about the foundation's Woodrow Wilson Michigan Teaching Fellowship. Closing out the hour is a live performance from Trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis and pianist Fred Sanders before Marsalis' upcoming performances at the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe in Grosse Pointe Farms.
