Director of the Clean Energy Program for the Pew Environment Group Phyllis Cuttino joins Craig to discuss the new fuel economy standards. 2012 began with a six cent per gallon cost increase and there are predictions of further price volatility, given the uncertainty in the Straits of Hormuz. Possible sanctions against Iran, which exports nearly 20 percent of the world’s demand for crude, will likely drive up the cost of a barrel of oil. Some experts anticipate that prices will hit record highs approaching five dollars per gallon.
