New Data Regarding College Access and Costs In Michigan

Wednesday February 20, 2013

Michael Bolus, Executive Director of the Presidents' Council-State Universities of Michigan, recently briefed the Michigan House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education on new data regarding college access and costs in Michigan. The data showed, among other things, that prosperity, measured by per capita income, is directly related to a state’s share of college graduates in its population and those with a bachelor’s degree or better had an unemployment rate of just 4.1 percent last year in Michigan, compared to 10.6 percent for those who only have a high school degree.

Craig is joined by Michael Bolus and Brandy Johnson, Executive Director of the Michigan College Access Network, to discuss the new data and what it means for both college graduates and prospective students.
