Mort Crim: An Anchorman Career Retrospective

A recent New York Times profile of Will Ferrell discusses his inspiration for the Anchorman movie character Ron Burgundy. It turns out that it's Detroit’s own Mort Crim. Craig speaks with the local legend about his career. Crim anchored the news in Louisville, Philadelphia and Chicago, before coming to WDIV - Channel 4 - in Detroit. Crim retired in 1997, and handed over the anchor chair to Devin Scillian. Crim is now involved with Mort Crim Communications, based in Florida. Crim’s transition to anchoring the news with the first female anchor - Jessica Savitch -- in Philadelphia, was the inspiration for the “Anchorman” movies. Crim talks to WDET about the film and his career.
