A new report says that the recession and the increase in uncompensated care is severely straining Michigan’s health care safety net. Free clinics, FQHC’s (federally qualified health centers) and hospitals are challenged to meet the increased demand. Craig and his guests talk about the importance of expanding Medicare to avoid further pressure on FQHC's and an escalating rate of uncompensated care in Michigan.

Guests:

Director of The Center for Healthcare Research & Transformation, Marianne Udow-Phillips

Vice President, Federal Policy & Advocacy; Michigan Health & Hospital Association, Laura Appel

Board Chair for Ferncare, A free clinic in Ferndale, Ann Heler
