"Michigan in Transition" Symposium

This month, The Journal of Law in Society (JLS) hosts its 2012 symposium, “Michigan In Transition: The Restructuring of Governance Through Privatization and Corporatization.” The event will explore major issues surrounding the social and economic trajectory of Detroit and other cities in the state, including restructuring of governance through privatization and corporatization, and the effects of emergency management.

Craig speaks with Professor Elliott Sclar, director of the Center for Sustainable Urban Development at Columbia University, Wayne State University Law Professor Peter Hammer and WSU Professor David Rusk about Detroit and Michigan's future. Sclar will give the symposium's keynote address at the upcoming symposium, while Hammer has been designated as its opening speaker.

The event runs 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, in the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium of Wayne State University Law School.
