New Lawsuit Challenges Second Parent Adoption and Anti-Marriage Amendment

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Jay Kaplan, LGBT Project staff attorney with the ACLU of Michigan, joins Craig to discuss the issues surrounding a Hazel Park couple's attempt to challenge Michigan's anti-marriage amendment as part of a larger ACLU lawsuit challenging Michigan's second parent adoption practices. April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse announced last week that they will challenge Michigan's anti-marriage amendment that was passed in 2004. The couple are trying to change state laws that prevent same-sex couples from adopting children in addition to state laws banning second parent adoption for unmarried couples.
