The Craig Fahle Show

Last Transit of Venus for a Century

Monday June 4, 2012

The last time our sister planet, Venus transited the sun was in 2004. This spectacular site comes twice in eight years and each pair is separated by a century. On the evening of June 5th we have one last chance to see this rare occurrence, offering us earthlings a very unique opportunity to see our planetary neighbor in silhouette. Venus isn't scheduled to pass between the earth and the sun again until 2117! Craig is joined by Ed Cackett, First Astronomy Professor at Wayne State University and John Schroer; former operator of the Planetarium at Detroit Science Center and active with the Warren Astronomical Society, to discuss the last transit of Venus in our lifetimes and the free viewing event WSU is hosting.
