On Being
Being is a spacious conversation — and an evolving media space — where big questions help you to explore the center of human life, from the boldest new science of the human brain to the most ancient traditions of the human spirit. |

Detroit World music artist Ara Topouzian has been invited to headline with the Virginia Commonwealth University Symphony on January 24, 2012 in Richmond, Virginia. Topouzian will perform the United States premier of an original composition by VCU Music Professor and Composer Doug Richards entitled “Ben Seni Variations.” The composition was specifically written for the Kanun, (also known as a Middle Eastern harp) and weaves traditional Middle Eastern folk elements with Western European Art Music, and jazz.
WDET's Martina Guzman spoke to Topouzian before his trip to Virginia and about his love of ancient the instrument.
