A New Project Looks At Personal Histories And Detroit's Historic Locations

Friday, May 02, 2014

The Project is called Ethnic Layers of Detroit: Experiencing Place through Digital Storytelling. Craig is joined by the project coordinators, Alina Klin and Julie Koehler who say that the project is a student-centered initiative that documents the overlapping layers of ethnic and cultural histories in downtown neighborhoods through the integration of research, digital media and mobile technologies. It will be a collection of digital community stories publicly available via a free mobile and multimedia web portal. It will also have a geolocational aspect which will allow mobile users to learn about Detroit’s cultural history at places where they can explore virtually the connections between peoples, practices and the urban-built environment.
