This American Life
This American Life is best described as a movie for radio. There are people in dramatic situations. Things happen to them. There are funny moments and emotional moments and—hopefully—moments where the people in the story say interesting, surprising things about it all. |
Acoustic Café
Acoustic Café is a two hour weekly radio show where any individual set of music could contain a bit of country, rock, blues, folk and pop…from today’s great songwriters to immortals like Dylan, Mitchell, Young, and Cash. |
Metro Detroiters who came of age in the 1960s know the song "Kick Out the Jams" well. It was the biggest hit of one of Detroit’s brightest bands, the legendary MC5. Sadly, the '70s weren’t as bright and one member of the band, guitarist Wayne Kramer was jailed after selling cocaine to an undercover cop. The Clash immortalized Wayne Kramer in the song "Jail Guitar Doors" by The Clash.
British Musician Billy Bragg founded an organization in England named for The Clash song and Wayne Kramer picked up the baton here in the United States. Kramer spoke with host Jiam Ghomeshi on "Q" about music and prisoners.
