The Detroit Historical Society's Black Historic Sites Committee is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first reading of the Emancipation Proclamation in Michigan. Exactly 150 years later, the committee has organized an afternoon of events, readings and reflection to take place Sunday, January 6 at the Detroit Historical Museum.
