Domestic Violence Spikes During Summer Months

Monday June 9, 2014

In the summer months, when the kids are out of school, a mother is most likely to run from an abusive situation at home to live on the streets with her children. Dr. Pam Clark, Women’s Program Director at Grace Centers of Hope talks to Craig about the staggering statistics.

In 2013 alone, Grace Centers of Hope, one of the largest homeless shelters in southeast Michigan was forced to turn away nearly 8,000 women and children for lack of space. Dr. Pam Clark talks about why the summer season helps to increase metro Detroit's homeless population and why the average age of a homeless person is a 9 year old boy.
