WDET reporters and interns visited 246 SNAP retailers in the Skillman Foundation's six "Good Neighborhoods", where roughly 30% of Detroit's children live. Based on conversations with nutritionists, we developed a
shopping list of four basic food items: reduced fat milk, wheat bread, chicken breast, and apples.
WDET's own Michelle Srbinovich and Laura Weber Davis along with WDET Interns Cassie Basler and Matthew Morley sit down with Craig to discuss their research as well as the interactive map we developed that shows all of these retailers and what basic food items they carry.
