Detroit Warming Centers Prepare in Anticipation of Arctic Temperatures

The Homeless Action Network of Detroit estimates that there are about 20,000 homeless people in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park. Arctic like temperatures hitting the metro area make this segment of the population exceptionally vulnerable to Illness, hypothermia and even death. Operation Get Down is one of the Detroit’s official warming centers. Sandra Bomar Parker is the CEO of Operation Get Down. She spoke to WDET’s Martina Guzman about how they are preparing for the snow emergency.
