Sandra Svoboda of NextChapterDetroit.com, explains the latest in bankruptcy court. She breaks down a bill passed yesterday that prevents the Detroit Institute of Arts from renewing its existing millage.

The DIA will pony up $100 million of its raised money as part of bankruptcy the grand bargain.

The DIA released a statement saying, "Whether or not the local communities and the DIA return to those voters upon the expiration of that tax should be decided by the voters, not by Michigan House members who are surprisingly willing to limit the citizens’ right to decide.”

In addition, NextChapterDetroit.com released a map of Detroit retirees by zip code. Most of Detroit’s non-uniform retirees live in Detroit, but the rest remaining in Michigan are spread throughout the state.
