A demand for Machinists across the region has Focus: Hope geared up to offer free training for anyone with a GED. Craig speaks with Development and External Relations Officer at Focus: Hope, Steve Ragan.

Focus: HOPE is hosting a lunch, presentation and on-site admissions for 18-to-24 year-olds on August 28-30 from 12-3 p.m. who are interested in learning the skills that can lead a successful career. The lunch and presentation are free. Those interested must make reservations in advance and must have a high school diploma or GED. There, they can get admitted to training courses that will allow them to be a skilled machine operator, a field that has seen significant job growth, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. There is also a training program to prepare them to be an Information Technology customer service support professional. Attendees must register in advance by calling 313-494-4300. Those who qualify would take educational courses directly at Focus: HOPE.
