Commando Program: New Initiative Examines Cultural Impact of MOCAD

Monday, August 20, 2012

MOCAD's Curator of Public Engagement and Commando Program creator, Jon Brumit and one of the creative researchers behind the Midwest Radical Culture Corridor, Dan Wang speak with Craig about a new initiative coming to the MOCAD this fall.

Brumit's Commando Program is an initiative that aims to evaluate the purpose of a contemporary art museum in today’s world. The program will showcase the work of two groups: Dan Wang's Compass Group and Marshall Brown. Wang and Compass Group are devoted to exploring what they call the “Midwest Radical Culture Corridor” as well as the cultural, political and environmental complexities of the region. The group's work for the Commando Program will examine the notion of the "corridor" where the MOCAD is located. MOCAD’s Commando Program artist in residence Marshall Brown's project launch and kickoff dinner will take place Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.
