John Austin, from the Brookings Instituition, directs the Great Lakes Economic Initiative. The initiative was created to improve the economic vitality of the region. His expertise includes international and national economic policy, education, higher education, workforce policy and urban policy.

Allen Burton, PhD, is the Director of the Cooperative Institute of Limnology and Ecosystem Research sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He holds joint appointments as Professor in the School of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan.

Christina Keller is the business unit leader at Cascade Engineering in Grand Rapids that used to make plastic injected molded parts for the auto industry, but now they are making green disposable plastics and simple plastic water filtering devices that sell world wide.
