Unconscious Bias Are Part of Everyone

Wednesday, November 28, 2013

Despite what we may say to ourselves or to others about equality of races, our brains make unacknowledged evaluations about people from other backgrounds. That's part of the research and the findings of Yale University Professor of Philosophy, Tamar Gendler. She says those unconscious evaluations create consequences that maybe contrary to what we actually believe. Gendler recently lectured at Wayne State University and WDET's Amy Miller sat down with her to discuss her work and the surprising findings of a a study where people were shown pictures of people of various races.
