Bankole Says Pensioners Should Take the Grand Bargain Deal

Thursday, June 12, 2014

Bankole Thompson, WDET's Senior Political Analyst, says pensioners should take the grand bargain deal. Pensioners themselves weigh in.

"The grand bargain allows pensioners to walk away from the table with something significant," says Thompson. "This is a good deal."

He says if a different judge had been flown in, he might not have the cultural ties and understanding of Detroit's emergence and would not have given such consideration to the pensioners.

Thompson says the creditors, who did not accept an invitation from Orr to tour the city where pensioners live, do not have pensioners' best interest in mind when they recommend turning down the grand bargain.
