Aluminum Prices Volatile But Automakers Determined To Use More

A new report says that nearly 80 percent of all new pickup trucks sold in North America will be aluminum-bodied by 2025. The study, which confirms a major breakthrough for automotive aluminum into mass-market vehicles, surveyed all major automakers and reports Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler will become the biggest users of aluminum sheet in the next decade. But Aluminum prices have been somewhat volatile in the last few years. Craig speaks with Randall Scheps; immediate past president of the Aluminum Association’s Aluminum Transportation Group and marketing director for Alcoa's automotive sheet business.
