The Craig Fahle Show

A Family's National Adoption Day Story

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

In line with this year's tribute to National Adoption Day, Governor Snyder signs the Young Adult Voluntary Foster Care Act today, which begins the process for extending assistance for foster care, guardianship and adoption to age 21. The act will allow the Michigan Department of Human Services to provide continued placement and case management assistance to help young adults transition from foster care to independent living. Implementation of the new law is expected to begin in early 2012 following federal review.

Nicole Vaughn has adopted five children--including a set of twins--with the help of Lutheran Social Services. In commemoration of National Adoption Day, she joins Craig to talk about the yearly event and her own experiences with the growth of her family.
