What does 'gentrification' mean for Detroit? Joining Craig for the conversation are: June Manning Thomas, Centennial Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Michigan and esteemed scholar of Detroit; Detroit Free Press columnist Stephen Henderson; and Southwest Detroit Business Association President Kathy Wendler.

Motor City Muckraker reports: "I’m sorry but, I mean, bring it on," George Jackson of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation said of gentrification. "We can’t just be a poor city and prosper.”

In 2011, MLive reports that Stephen Henderson tweeted " “Sorry.. as a Detroit native who has seen this place rot from the inside out, I'd kill for a little gentrification.”

Can gentrification ever be a good thing? Does gentrification mean something different for Detroit?
