This Detroit Locale is Giving Out Free Certified Eclipse Glasses Today

While supplies last, of course.

As of 11:30am today, the Detroit Public Library Main Branch is giving away free, certified solar eclipse glasses. Visitors can obtain one pair of glasses per person until the library’s supply runs out.

Certified glasses like these are one of the few safe ways for spectators to look directly at the sun during the eclipse. They have been difficult to find in the metro Detroit area for days.

The solar eclipse will happen on August 21, 2017. In Detroit, a partial eclipse will begin around 1pm and last about three hours. Learn more about the eclipse and how to safely view it, here.
