“It’s impossible for him to recognize what’s appropriate, what’s inappropriate,” Finley says regarding Trump’s tweets.

The tweeting habits of President Donald Trump have been a consistent topic in the news since the 2016 campaign season. This week Trump tweeted, “I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore).  Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-life. I said no!”

His tweets reference Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Nolan Finley, editorial page editor of The Detroit News, joins Stephen Henderson on Detroit Today to discuss Trump’s tweeting.

Finley saying he does not think it is inappropriate for Trump to address attacks on him from the media. However, he says Trump has to do so in an appropriate way.

“I think journalists oughta stay off of Twitter in terms of expressing personal opinions about the people they’re covering,” says Finley.

Finely says he thinks that Twitter, and the direct form of communication the platform brings, is inevitably the way that communication is done today. However, says the office of the president should be held to a higher standard.
