Study: Historic Designations Increase Property Values

Historic designations for neighborhoods, homes or business districts can significantly increase property values, according to a new study from the Michigan Historic Preservation Network.

The Lansing-based group examined past and present data about property values in Ann Arbor, Bay City, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, says Ellen Thackery, the Network’s southeast Michigan field representative.

She spoke with WDET’s Amy Miller about the study. Click on the audio above to hear their full conversation.
