With the Grammys coming up this weekend, many Detroit and Michigan artists are nominated for a series of awards. Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson speaks with Ann Delisi, host of Ann Delisi’s Essential Music on WDET, about the awards.

Detroit artists up for awards at this years 59th Annual Grammy Awards include Jack White, Iggy Pop and Mike Posner

Jack White’s song ”City Lights” is nominated for Best American Roots Song, Iggy Pop’s album “Post Pop Depression” is nominated for Best Alternative Music Album and Mike Posner’s song, “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” is nominated for song of the year.

It is nice to see Iggy Pop, who’s going to turn 70-years-old this year, get recognized for this latest album,” says Delisi. ”It was just a fascinating and incredible year for him and he was incredibly humbled by it.”

Performances at the 2017 Grammy’s include Beyoncè, Katy Perry, Adele, Lady Gaga and Metallica, The Weeknd and Daft Punk, Bruno Mars and more.

The Grammys is the one (award show) that artists covet the most and are the most respected awards they can get,” says Delisi.
