Cass Tech Celebrates 90 Years of Teaching Students to Play the Harp

The school is holding a special benefit performance Friday evening.

Detroit’s Cass Technical High School is celebrating the 90th anniversary of its “Harp and Vocal Ensemble”.  That’s right.  Cass Tech has been teaching interested students how to play the harp since the mid-1920’s.

Lydia Cleaver is the current director of the school’s harp and vocal program.  She spoke with WDET’s Jerome Vaughn.

Cleaver says music has a rich history at Cass Tech.

The school is holding a special benefit concert at Friday evening with performances by students and alumni.
