Most pick-up truck headlights are performing poorly. That’s according to tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The study examines visibility and glare from low and high beam headlights. The institute tested 11 makes and models of cars. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only large pickup truck to score the highest rating of “good.” Seven trucks rated “poor”, including the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado and the 2016 and 2017 Ford F-150.

Matthew Brumbelow is a Senior Research Engineer at the Insurance Institute. He spoke with WDET’s Bre’Anna Tinsley about what qualifies as a good headlight on a pick-up truck.
