The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services launched the new service Monday in partnership with the electronic payment provider “Pay Near Me.”
Erin Firsh is the director of Child support in the Health and Human Services Department. She says to make a payment, families must first sign up online.
“They can select whether to have a payment code sent to their phone or printed out, and they choose which ever payment location they choose to use. That barcode is either sent to their phone or printed on a sheet of paper. They can then go that location, show the barcode and pay their cash,” Smith says.
Smith says this is another option to make the process more convenient and to ensure children receive their support faster.
