Governor Rick Snyder and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne are teaming up to promote the region’s auto industry.

The officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding today (Wed) that will allow the two governments to work together on vehicle research and development.

Snyder spokesperson Ari Adler says the Governor believes the partnership will help the region remain as the leader in the auto industry.

“Both in terms of production that is currently available. But also looking to the future in terms of the autonomous vehicle market and mobility as a whole which is really starting to grow,” Adler says.

Adler says the governments want to be able to lead research in self-driving vehicles internationally.
