Delphi Takes Driverless Cars to Singapore

Automotive supplier Delphi is testing driverless cars in Singapore, hoping to become a new kind of Uber.

Parts supplier Delphi Automotive is set to begin testing self-driving cars in Singapore.

Automotive analysts predict a wave of so-called driverless cars is inexorably heading for dealer showrooms.

And automotive supplier Dephi wants in on that ride.

So Delphi is launching a pilot program to test its self-driving software on electric vehicles in the island nation of Singapore.

The effort beginning this week involves cars traveling on three pre-chosen routes in a business park, hauling passengers from homes or offices to mass transit stations.

Delphi officials say they eventually want to create the ability for customers to call for cars over a smartphone app, to transport both people and goods as well as offer services like picking up items from a grocery store.
