By Jove, Juno Nails It!

NASA probe orbits Jupiter, and scientists hope it tells us a lot we didn’t know before about solar system.

NASA‘s Juno probe settled into orbit around the planet Jupiter on July 4. Now, scientists hope to learn new things about how the gas giant–and our solar system–formed. Paulette Auchtung is the Michigan Science Center‘s Staff Astronomer and Planetarium and Live Theaters Director. She tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the Juno probe is an incredible engineering feat. She also says “citizen astronomers” can actively take part in the mission by helping NASA decide which pictures to take. Click on the audio player to hear the conversation.
