Construction on I-94 Near Metro Airport to Begin

Construction on I-94 near Metro Airport between Telegraph to I-275 will begin next week.

Resurfacing work and pavement repairs will take place on I-94 between Telegraph and I-275 starting next week. The Michigan Department of Transportation says crews will only work overnight to avoid major traffic delays.

Spokesperson Diane Cross says I-94 may be reduced to one lane overnight, but travelers going to the airport can avoid the closures.

“We are recommending that drivers heading to the airport, not come off the 94 but instead 275 to Eureka. There is another entrance to the airport at 275 and Eureka, which there is no construction going on the freeway at that end and they can avoid all of this on I-94,” Cross says.

Cross says the project will cost nine million dollars and last about six months.
