Police from Lebanon Hope to Copy Detroit’s Finest
Lebanese security forces say they can learn how to work better with citizens by copying Detroit police.
The blight dotting the city of Detroit has led some to compare it to the war-torn buildings filling Beirut, Lebanon.
But Lebanese officials say there is something else the two cities share: A desire for better policing.
Members of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces, that nation’s police agency, are in Michigan this week shadowing law enforcement officers in Detroit, Saginaw and Dearborn.
The security forces’ First Lieutenant Elsy al Hajj tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter her agency has much to learn from Detroit’s finest.
